Apeldoorn may not ‘officially’ call itself a city, as they never received city rights in the past, as they were still too small. Due to the construction of the canal, the population grew very rapidly, so Apeldoorn now has over 160,000 inhabitants!

Apeldoorn is especially known for its beautiful city parks and its ‘green’ character! For example, one of the most popular sights is Het Paleis van Loo, located in the Paleispark. This palace was inhabited by members of the Royal Family of the Netherlands until 1975. The Oranjepark is also very popular.

In addition, Apeldoorn has a beautiful city hall with a square full of terraces in front of it. All this certainly makes Apeldoorn a city worth visiting!
