Bruges

Although the region of Bruges was already inhabited in Roman times, the city is mentioned for the first time in the 9th century. The name Bruges is derived from the Old Germanic word Burgj, which means jetty. The city offers a lot of special buildings and is recognized as world heritage by Unesco since 2000.
A visit to Bruges is a dive into its glorious past with the Kruispoort, the Belfry, the Sint Salvator’s Cathedral and the City Hall as absolute eye-catchers. But Bruges is also a warm city with many cosy eateries.
