Dresden
Dresden is the capital of the German state of Saxony and, with over 556,000 inhabitants, it is the second largest city and the 12th largest city in Germany in terms of population.
The city has a rich history. The first mention of Dresden dates back to 1206. Dresden is the centre of politics for Saxony and has many important educational and cultural institutions. In addition, the city is known for its information technology and nanoelectronics.
Dresden has many important sights to offer, such as the Zwinger, the Semper Opera, the Residence Palace, the Hofkerk and the Frauenkirche.
