Harderwijk
Harderwijk was granted city rights by the Count of Gelre in the year 1231. As a result, the city quickly developed into a leading trade town, benefiting from its favourable location on an important trade route. Harderwijk has grown into a city of over 48,000 inhabitants.
In the city, you can admire the beautiful Regional Music School. It used to consist of three buildings; a wine house, town hall and rectory. Moreover, you can also admire the St Catherine Monastery, dating from 1502! Also, the city’s Stadsmuseum Harderwijk is located in a former patrician house from 1790. These sights alone make Harderwijk a city well worth a visit!
