The name Paris derives from the Gallic tribe the Parisii. In 52 BC, Paris was conquered by the Romans and the city was called Lutetia. From 509 onwards, Paris has been the capital of the Frankish empire. The city has enormous appeal with beautiful sights like the Sacre Coeur, the Arc de Triomphe and, of course, the Eiffel Tower.
