Düsseldorf is the capital of the state of North Rhine-Westphalia and is the second city after Cologne with more than 621,000 inhabitants and the seventh largest city in Germany.
The city was granted city rights as early as 1288 and thus has a far-reaching history. The Rhine metropolis is one of Germany’s 5 main economic centres, hosts many important trade fairs and is home to numerous listed companies. It is also known as a carnival stronghold and for its large art trade.
Düsseldorf has many attractive sights to offer, including the beautiful Old Town, the Rhine Tower, the Mediahaven and the Königsallee.
