Braunschweig
With more than 249,000 inhabitants, Braunschweig is the second largest city in the German state of Lower Saxony.
The city was founded in the 9th century. Mainly due to Heinrich der Löwen, Braunschweig quickly developed into an important trade metropolis. Today, Brunswick is an important place for science and research in Europe and invests heavily in this field. For this reason, the city was named the “City of Science” in 2007.
