Breda was first officially mentioned in 1125 in a charter. In 1252 Breda was granted city rights by lord Hendrik IV of Schoten. Breda has grown into a large city with as many as 184.000 inhabitants.

Breda is known as the pearl of the south. It has a medieval centre and a burgundian way of life. The great pride of Breda is especially the Great Church, which is a real eye-catcher with its 97 metres of height. Also the Breda Castle with its beautiful moat and park is very popular. This alone makes the city worth visiting!
