Brielle
The name Brielle comes from the Celtic word Brogilo meaning hunting ground.
Brielle has almost 18,000 inhabitants and is an old fortified town. The fortress is one of the best-preserved defences in the Netherlands. The city was the first to be liberated from Spanish rule on 1 April 1572. The city is a large open-air museum with many sights but is also a cosy town. In short, Brielle is well worth a visit.
