Delft
The city originated in the 11th century, when it consisted of a grave court, close to a small river. The court grew into an important trading place. In the year 1246, Delft was granted city rights by Count William II. Delft became a true commercial city; industry and trade flourished there.
Delft is a historic city and is of course internationally known for its Delft blue. Delft blue originated in the late 16th century as an alternative to the expensive blue-white Chinese porcelain.
