Deventer
In the eighth century, people were already living in the place where Deventer is now located; it is one of the oldest cities in the Netherlands. In 1123, Deventer was granted city rights by Emperor Hendrik V. Currently, the city has no less than 103,000 inhabitants.
Deventer is characterised by being a beautiful historical city located on the water and is known for its beautiful skyline, among other things. It also contains a cosy city centre around the Brink (square). An eye-catcher on the Brink is the Waag dating from 1528.
Another must-see is the Bergkwartier consisting of narrow cobbled streets, beautiful buildings, special facades and of course the most important building; the beautiful Bergkerk! Deventer is definitely worth a visit!
