Eindhoven

Eindhoven was granted city rights by Duke Hendrik I of Brabant in 1232. It is not known when it was already a city, as many documents were lost in a city fire in 1486.
Until the 19th century, Eindhoven was a small city with few inhabitants, as many wars and conflicts were fought in and around Eindhoven. From the 19th century, Eindhoven was more accessible and grew rapidly due to industrialisation. Eindhoven has now grown to a population of almost 235,000.
Eindhoven is known for many things, including Philips and Brabant cosiness!
The Philips Museum was Philips’ first light bulb factory in 1891 in the middle of the city. An eye-catcher is The 66-metre-high Augustijnenkerk, built in 1867. This alone makes Eindhoven worth a visit!
