With more than 593,000 inhabitants, Leipzig is the largest city by population in the German state of Saxony and the eighth largest city in Germany.
The city was granted city rights in 1165 and has an impressive history. Leipzig has one of the oldest universities in Germany, is a well-known trade fair location and has a great musical tradition.
