Tilburg
Although Tilburg has been inhabited for thousands of years, the city was not granted city rights until 1809. The name Tilburg is first mentioned in 1191. Tilburg had grown enormously in the late 19th century due to its textile industry, especially woollen fabric factories were numerous. The city was therefore called wool city. King Willem II loved coming to Tilburg and also built a palace here, which was only completed after his by.
