Utrecht
In terms of population, Utrecht is the fourth largest city in the Netherlands with 359,000 inhabitants. Utrecht was one of the first cities to receive its city rights in 1122 and its street pattern originated in the Middle Ages. In Roman times, the area around Utrecht was already inhabited around 50 AD and in the 13th, Utrecht was one of the most important trading cities in Europe, partly due to its central location on the Rhine.
Utrecht is a cosy city with many attractions such as the Oude Gracht, the Jaarbeurs, Stadskasteel Oudaen and of course De Dom with its 112 metres the highest tower in the Netherlands.
